Test Center

The Test Center hosts testing services for placement testing, make-up testing, accommodations testing, and testing for online learners in Leader 103. Guidelines for each of these types of testing are provided below.

GENERAL RULES

  • All testers must present valid photo ID (driver's license, school ID, passport, etc.).
  • Cell phones, tablets, and other personal electronics are not permitted in the Test Center.
  • Children are not allowed in the Test Center (and are not permitted to be unsupervised on campus).
  • No food or drink is allowed in the Test Center.

ACADEMIC DISHONESTY:

  • Keep in mind that the Test Center is monitored by video surveillance at all times.
  • If a tester is caught cheating, his/her test will be terminated, and the instructor will be notified so that he/she may follow the college's policies and procedures regarding academic dishonesty.

ABOUT THE PLACEMENT TEST:

The placement tests for all of the HACC campuses are from Accuplacer. Students are generally required to test in the subjects of reading comprehension, math, and writing. The reading and math tests are comprised of multiple choice questions, and the writing test is a 300-600 word typed response to an essay prompt.

For test preparation, check out the Prepare for ACCUPLACER website, which provides free study resources.

PROCEDURES FOR PLACEMENT TESTERS:

  • Testers may take their placement exams on a walk-in basis Monday through Thursday between the hours of 9am and 5pm, and on Fridays between the hours of 9am and 1pm.
  • Before taking the test, all testers must first check in at the Welcome Center before coming to the Test Center in Leader 103.
  • When taking the exam, testers must follow all test center rules (including presenting photo ID).
  • The placement test is not timed, so take your time to do the best that you can. (The average time for completing the full placement test is approximately two hours.)

  • If your test is not on file, please confirm with your instructor that the test was sent to the Test Center.
  • The Test Center is open Monday through Thursday from 9am to 7pm and Friday 9am to 4pm. Please keep this in mind when scheduling (e.g. if you are allotted an hour for your exam, don't schedule it after 6pm on Monday through Thursday or after 3pm on Friday).
