General Questions

Who can meet with a HACC tutor?

Free tutoring is available for currently registered HACC students.

Who are the tutors?

We have both professional and peer tutors on our staff.

• Professional tutors hold a bachelor's degree or higher in the field they tutor. Many of our professional tutors are current or past faculty members.
• Peer tutors received a B or higher in the class they tutor and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher. All peer tutors are current or past students. Many of our peer tutors begin tutoring as HACC students and continue to tutor at HACC even after they have transferred to other institutions.

How do I become a peer tutor?

If you are interested in becoming a tutor, you must meet the following criteria:

• You must have a recommendation from at least two (2) instructors. One recommendation must be from an instructor of the subject you would like to tutor.
• Received a B (preferably and A) in the course(s) you would like to tutor
• Maintain a 3.0 GPA
• Have good interpersonal and communication skills

How do I meet with a tutor?

HACC Tutors are currently available to work with students using Zoom video conferencing. You may schedule an appointment with a tutor or drop-in to see a tutor instantly using TutorTrac.

What is TutorTrac?

TutorTrac is HACC's online tutor scheduling software.

How do I schedule an appointment using TutorTrac?

Go to tutortrac.hacc.edu, login using your username and password (this is the same username and password you use to login to myHACC).

1. Select Tutoring under Center.
2. Select the course you need help with from the drop down menu (your classes should be displayed).
3. Select a date or date range. You can also narrow down the time of day using the slider.
4. Click Search. A list of available appointments will display.
5. Choose a tutor and click on the time.
6. Complete the Appoinments Entry information. Close the Appointments Entry window.
7. Your appointment will appear on the TutorTrac Main Menu.

My screen won't load, what can I do?

1. Be sure to use Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, or Safari (for iPhone and iPad) as your internet browser.
2. Clear your cache.Click below for information for each browser:
   1. Firefox

   3. Safari
3. Restart your computer.
4. Restart your router.

How can I cancel my appointment?

1. Click the Make an Appointment you used to schedule an appointment.
2. Any appointments you have scheduled will appear under Upcoming Appointments on the TutorTrac Main Menu.
3. Click the small X beside your appointment.
4. Enter a reason for the cancellation.
5. Click Confirm Cancellation.
6. You will receive an email confirming the cancellation.
