ENGL 002 - Strategy Based Reading II - Wright: Books and Media

Why use books?

Books are excellent sources for information such as:

• in-depth coverage of a subject

• history and chronology

• overview of a big topic

• background information

• bibliographies of additional sources.

A book doesn't need to be read cover-to-cover to be used for research!

Why use ebooks?

An ebook is a book in electronic format.

It is downloaded to a computer, PC, Mac, laptop, tablet, smartphone or any other kind of reading device, and is read on the screen. It can have numbered pages, table of contents, pictures and graphics, exactly like a printed book.

Students can read ebooks directly from our library catalog or download to read later at their leisure.

Books and Media

"Books are no more threatened by Kindle than stairs by elevators." - Stephen Fry

Why use media?

Research suggests that students learn concepts more easily when they are presented in both verbal and visual form.

Take advantage of our over 20,000 streaming videos to expand and enhance your research in categories such as dental hygiene, massage therapy, culinary arts, controversial issues, and more.

Off-campus access to the HACC Library Databases is granted to current students/faculty/staff of Harrisburg Area Community College only.
