What specific OER are you currently using? I have used "Statistics" and "College Algebra" by Openstax Why did you decide to make the switch to OER? I made the switch to lower student costs. Describe other strategies you have used or are currently using to minimize the cost of materials for students: I have also used MyOpenMath, a free alternative to MyMathLab/ALEKS. How are you using OER in your classroom? I use it for content only. Where there any challenges to using OER, as compared to traditionally published materials? No What is your students’ feedback on the OER you have used? Students appreciate the zero-cost materials. What differences have you noticed in student learning, grades, or engagement when you used OER? Honestly, I have not had a chance to compare results. What advice do you have for colleagues who are interested in implementing OER in their teaching? It is a lot of work up front to prepare materials, but it is worth it! |
