Creating Alerts for New Articles

Get notified of the latest news and magazine articles via email by creating alerts within our ProQuest and EBSCO databases. To get started:

  1. Use the library's Journals page to find the source (journal, newspaper, or magazine) that you're interested in.
  2. Follow the link(s) to access the publication in full text through one of our databases.
    • Pro tip: Make sure the journal is one that is still currently published or that we are currently subscribed to, as alerts will only be sent when new articles are added in the database.

Creating alerts with ProQuest

  1. Once you've accessed the publication in ProQuest, click the "Create alert" button at the top of the page.
  2. Fill out the "Create alert" form using your HawkMail to register. Make sure you select "Only when full text is available" to get the full version of the articles.
  3. Use the drop-down menu to choose how long you want to receive the alerts, anywhere between 2 weeks and 1 year.
  4. ProQuest will send an email to your Hawkmail; you must respond to this email to activate the alert.

Creating alerts with EBSCO

  1. First, you'll need to create a myEBSCO account using your HawkMail address, which only takes a few minutes. Creating an account will also enable other EBSCO features, like the ability to save and organize articles in personal folders.
  2. Once you've created your account and are signed in, click the "Publication Tools" drop-down menu (3 dots), then select "Create alert."
  3. Fill out the alert form. EBSCO will then send you an email when new articles are added to the publication. Alerts last for one year, but you can extend them by editing them through your myEBSCO account.
