OER are licensed with one of six different Creative Commons Licenses which allow creators not only a way to copyright their work but also control how those works are copied, reused, and shared. One of the benefits of OER is the ability to adapt resources to tailor them to the specific needs of your class. When remixing material you must pay attention to the particular license of each work you want to combine. Use the chart below to determine which CC licensed material can be remixed:
CC License Compatibility Chart / CC BY 4.

Providing attribution is essential when using OER. All CC licenses require that attribution be given to the creator. Use the "TASL approach" when sharing your on work as well as giving attribution others:
T= Title
A = Author (tell reusers who to give credit to)
S = Source (give reusers a link to the resource)
L = License (link to the CC licence deed)
Visit the wiki page on Best Practices for Attribution for additional information and examples.
