STEM is the acronym for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. These fields contribute to both national and global progress for the betterment of humankind. It is predicted that these fields will present gainful employment opportunities to those who pursue their study. In addition, the technologies that evolve from the pursuits in STEM disciplines change the course of our shared history and progress.
Lately, there has been a lot of focus on women's progress in STEM fields. The study and pursuit of knowledge within the STEM disciplines for women has been traditionally challenging. For example, female scientists may have to navigate pay inequality, sexual harassment, career-life balance choices, and gender biases. Recent awareness has the potential to remove these barriers to our shared pursuit of knowledge and progress.
